Beginning with the alphabet, we are systematically taught to communicate through written and spoken language. However, we are rarely educated to understand visual information, despite being surrounded by images and objects every day. In my art history teaching and scholarship, I seek to empower students and readers with the interpretive skills needed to navigate an increasingly image-saturated world.
